Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Teacher Hit Student

I live in Calvert County Maryland and my son said a substitute teacher grabbed him by his throat when he attempted to leave the classroom to go to the office. Substitute denies this happened. Students have varying accounts. What are my options now?

It sounds like the incident is under investigation by the school, with not all witnesses supporting your son's account. I suggest you wait until the investigation is completed. If the school finds that the sub was at fault, whether you go further would depend upon whether your son was injured to any real degree. If you are contemplating a suit against the school system, you would have to prove more than just the fact that the incident took place.
