Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

verbal contract legal and enforcable or not

i made an agreement for the sale of a car stereo to a private party. the other party agreed to the purchase price. i let them take the stereo with the promise of full payment in a couple of days. i have been told by the other party that upon attempting to install the stereo , it was destroyed. i never received payment for the stereo. i have even requested the damaged stereo back. the other party will not give either. did we have a legal binding contract? AND CAN I SUE FOR THE RETURN of the stereo or its value?

You have an enforceable contract and can sue for the purchase price. However, if the "buyer" denies he agreed on a specific price, or claims the stereo was defective, it will be your word against his unless you have witnesses or other evidence to back you up.
