Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
If I'm wrongly attached to a lawsuit, because I have the same name of the person they are looking for, can I sue the law firm for expenses (hiring a lawyer, travel etc..., when I prove that its not me.

Maybe. Hire a lawyer to discuss the specifics. Best of luck.
I suggest you contact the attorney for the plaintiff, explain the situation, and offer documentation to prove you aren't the namesake they are looking for. If they are at all responsible they should be willing to dismiss you out of the suit and continue their search for the correct defendant. If this happens you won't have incurred any expenses. If they refuse despite your demonstration of being the wrong defendant, then you will have a basis for claiming expenses if you have to hire an attorney to get you out of the case.
