Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland
A2 to Citizen?
I've been in the US for six years on A2 status, as has my wife. We are due to have a child later this year. I would like to look to become US citizens but do not know if it is possible to do so. Having been here legally for six years the implication is that I can petition for citizenship but can you do this from an A2 or only as a Green Card holder? Is there any other sensible route to take? We would like to make the US our home but I am unsure of the best way to do so.

Re: A2 to Citizen?
You would first need to obtain lawful permanent residence and then you would become eligible for citizenship after a few years. You may have different options for obtaining the lawful permanent resident status.
