Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland
Hi.
My boyfriend is a permanent resident and we are planning on getting married in the spring. I would like to know what the current waiting time is for the F2 category. Would it be better for me to wait in the US or abroad? Can I apply for an EAD while I wait for the green card application to be processed?
Additional information: I am originally from Argentina and I have lived in the US for the last 8 years. I am on a G4 visa, as a dependent of my father, that expires in October 2012.
Thank you!

The current wait time to get a green card through your permanent resident spouse is approximately 4 years. You can wait in the U.S. so long as you are in status. Is your boyfriend eligible to become a U.S. Citizen soon? If so, it might be worth waiting for him to do so and then applying for your permanent residence.
