Allow about 10 month for the PERM application (also known as application for alien employment certification) to be certified by the Department of Labor. After PERM certification, the employer has 180 days to file the petition for immigrant worker (Form I-140) under the EB2 or EB3 category: http://www.h1b1.com/EB1.htm
