H1-B visa status

I hold an H1B-visa as a medical professional. I will be applying for my green card shortly. However I am looking to go into a clinic with an american citizen partner and want to know what ownership rights I can have under my current status or vested interest? My current employer is my sponsor and I want to get away from him and into my new venture with my new partner as my sponsor-is this also allowable? Please advise thanks

The ownership in the organization you will be joining will depend upon the manner by which you will be petitioning for your green card. The rules dictate that you would not want to own equity (substantial?)in an organization that will be doing your PERM Labor Certification Application.
