Re: Immigration Detainer

Dear Inquirer:

An immigration detainer means that the person will be referred to USICE for possible removal proceedings once he completes his sentence for his criminal conviction.

Re: Immigration Detainer

It means that when he is completed his criminal sentence he will be taken into the custody of the Department of Homeland Security. He will most likely be served with a notice to appear before the immigration court and, if he is lucky, he won't be deported. Luck means having a damn good immigration lawyer. Good luck!
