Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland
request for change in status
I posess an H1B visa valid until 2008.
I have submitted a request for change in status due to my change in family status May 2006.
My husband and I have submitted every documents and evidences, however I have still not received my permit for permanent residency or a work permit.
Meanwhile I have lost my job. Is there a way I could speed up the process.

When was the last communication between you and the immigration? Have you tried to call the immigration directly?
Re: request for change in status
There is no way to speed up the process. You need to go to www.uscis.gov web-site and check the processing dates for your location. If the dates indicated there are well after May 2006, you need to inquire about the status of your case either by phone or by making an info-pass appointment on the same web-site.
