What is the period of time given to contest a will in the state of Maryland?

It's at most 18 months after the date of death, and then only under certain situations. The person contesting a will , if considered an "interested party," should have been given notice of the probate proceeding. If it was administrative probate, they should have filed for judicial probate and raised their issues with the will then. If it was already judicial probate, then that was the right forum to raise these kinds of issues.

After 18 months, the results of probate are final and cannot be reopened.
