Re: insurance company
I think that an insurance company can "ask" for anything. The real question is whether you have to give it to them.
It sounds as if the insurance carrier is suspecting fraud and wants to investigate a claim. You would be wise to consult with counsel before you decide whether to give them the information that they have requested. But, be aware that you should act quickly, because failing to "cooperate" can be grounds for denying a claim on its own, even without proving a fraud.
