Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Maryland

Intangible Property Law

I am volunteering for a children's museum and I write articles for the newsletter. I am not getting paid at all for this service. Can I eventually take the articles I have written and put them in book format and sell them or do they become the property of the museum?

Unless you sign something assigning your copyright to the museum, the works remain yours and you may do with them whatever you like. Best if you register the works before submission to the museum, as their public availability makes infringement much easier.
