Legal Question in Investment Law in Maryland
Investment accounts
How Do I retrieve my investment account when my social first and last name are not within the system of the brokerage firms or company I purchased stocks of. I had certificates but they were stolen. I purchased 100,000.0 of Cisco, Microsoft and Internet stocks in mid eighties when they were penny stocks.
Thanks

Re: Investment accounts
The clearinghouse for the companies that you owned stock in should have a record. Also, they should have been sending you 1099s over the years, another indication of proof of ownership. Given Microsoft's most recent dividend and any dividends paid out by Cisco, plus the obvious potential capital gains, you should have a hefty tax bill as well. Were your certificates insured?
