Legal Question in Investment Law in Maryland
Re: Recovery of an investment
If I chose to sue someone whom I invested money with can this person be protected by bankruptcy laws? If so is there any way to recover that investment?

Bankruptcy laws can legally "shield" this person at issue, under most circumstances, however it is best to proceed with legal action regardless to recoup your damages, just in case this person does not file for BK.

When you say, you invested with someone, did you invest in a pool of securities sold to you by the individual or did you purchase a share in the individual's company? Either way, the action you pursue may depend on one of these scenarios.
