Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

I was asked to sign a non compete agreement after working for a company for 4 years. I am a computer repair technician. No change in position, responsibility or even a raise. It's just that a former employee left and started a similar business. How binding is this agreement in Maryland.

Non-Compete Agreement are closely scrutinized and narrowly enforced by Maryland's courts. Regardless, I STRONGLY recommend that you hire a Maryland attorney who has experience reviewing non-compete agreements to review the written non-compete agreement BEFORE you sign it. After discussing the specifics of your job and reviewing the agreement, the attorney can discuss your options. Please feel free to contact me if you would like assistance.

Best of luck.*******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
