Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
Is a bet a verbal agreement. I work a part time job. My employer who likes to be right a lot, bet me 3 times my years wages if I win this situation (about 6,500), and if I lost I would work the rest of the year for free. I agreed to his terms in front of many witnesses, and in the end I won. He did not acknowledge this and follow through, but I have proof (physical, witness, and picture). Is this considered a verbal agreement (which in Maryland is legally binding)? and could he fire me if I persued the money?

It may be an agreement but it might not be deemed a legally enforceable agreement i.e. a contract. Just because it is oral does not make it unenforceable except in certain situations. The key is whether what we call consideration was given i.e. you provided something you had the legal right not provide or abstained from providing something you had the legal right to provide.
