Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

Do I Have A Case ??

I am unemployed and have applied to many different employers for work. I have interviewed and applied to companies that have conducted pre-employment checks, to include background and prior employment referrence checks. There is one former employer in particular who has engaged in the practice of giving a particularly great referrence while under their employ, and then giving a particularly lousy referrence all within the time frame of just one to two and half months apart.

This is unfair, illegal, unprofessional, and the basis for which I am bringing suit against the former employer. I have documented proof of such an incident having occured and am in the process of getting notarized sworn affidavits from the 2 entirely independent persons responsible for verifying information with regards to my former employment. I firmly believe that this dispicable display of malicious slander and assault of character by said employer has caused me to be denied offers of employment with many companies I have applied to, and am suing for damages.

Re: Do I Have A Case ??

Your question seems to be do you have a case. These types of cases are not easy to prove. More

facts are needed before one could even begin to evaluate the potential for success should, you

chose to sue. May I suggest that you contact a lawyer, lay out the facts contained in this question and then answer what will undoubtedly be a lot of questions designed to develop the facts more fully. Dont try to guess what the attorney may ask, but rather go with the questions he or she may have. Many attorneys will grant you an initial consultation on a matter of this type, without a fee (I certainly would). You will have a better idea of where you stand after such a conference than any answer I suspect youll get at this point on the facts contained in your question.
