Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
hi my name is debra windsor ,and my question is back in the beginning of february of this year i had been suspended from my job because they wanted me to come in to my job but i did not have a way to get in because we had a back toback blizzard and the storm had left me stranded in my apartment for 2 weeks i had no way to get in touch with anyone , but when i finally was able to get with my boss she told me i was fired for not calling her and for not coming in, unbeknown to me i went back to get my paycheck they were willing to take me back ,but they were nasty about it and told me i had to do what they wanted and if i stepped out of line ,for me not to come back. the place i worked at was charlotte hall veterans home. i would like to know if i was to sue them for all back pay would i stand a chance of winning ?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking whether you can sue to collect the "back pay" for the time you would have worked but-for the blizzard? If so, the answer is "it depends." It depends on whether you are a full time employee. It depends on the facility's employment policy.
What I really think is that your excuse about the snow is BS and your employer thought so too - no cell phone coverage? no ability to send a text? come off it! You should be thankful that the facility gave you your job back. But instead, you want to sue the facility.
Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
