Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

Hello, I am a employee at kmart, i stock and replinsh the shelves and assist customers, recently the manager of the store held a meeting and told everyone that they have to ask customers to sign up for a promotional deal called "the rewards program", and if the employee dont get 3 customers a day to sign up for the rewards program there hours will be cut in half and they will get "wrote up" and it will go against you on your work record at kmart, he also passed around a paper wanting the employees to sign the paper stating that they do this, i did not sign it, i feel like my labor rights are being violated and being forced to do something by threats, is this a violation of my rights? is this common practice of a work place?, thank you for your time!........................Lonnie S.

I'm not sure how your rights are being violated by asking you to drum up business.

Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
