Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

Employer requiring training reimbursement

My employer wants me to sign that I will reimburse them for a training class ''if my employment is ended for ANY REASON, within 6 months'' of the class. If they fire me the next day do I legally have to pay it back? Can they require this? It would be reasonable to request if I quit but not ''for any reason''. They will not send me if I do not sign this. This is a Maryland company and I know they did not have legal advice to write it.

Re: Employer requiring training reimbursement

Sure, the company can make this a condition of your employment and enforce it if you're fired and don't pay it since this is what you agreed to

at the outset.
