Employment reference
If you are fired from a co. can that co. share with another co. that calls for a reference why you were fired?

Unless there is a contract or policy that prevents them from doing so, they are free to give out information. Of course, it must be truthful or you could sue for defamation. They also may not intentionally interfere with your ability to get another job, but that would take malicious conduct and would be unusual and hard to prove.
If you fear interference, though, you can simply contact the HR or legal dept. and ask that they only give a neutral reference - position, time on job and salary. They may agree in order to avoid legal claims later.
