Does my employer have the right to make my last day of employment the day prior to me giving notice of my resignation?

Re: Employment After Resignation

It is not clear what you mean by your employer giving you notice of your resignation, or calling something the last day. With regard to wages, employers must pay wages for all time worked pursuant to state and federal law. If there is an employment contract of some type (other than oral at-will employment) then there may be severance payments as well.

If there is some other issue about which you have a question(unemployment issues; insurance issues; etc.) you will have to provide more information.

Please feel free to call if you would like me to evaluate your matter.
