Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
During an end-of-year salary meeting my boss told me I could have received an additional 0.5% raise if I hadn't used so much sick leave this past year. Our company has an open sick leave policy where employees are not given a set number of sick days. The only restrictions are for extended periods of sick leave for surgery, recovery, maternity, etc. I used leave within the parameters set in documented policies & procedures and feel being docked 0.5% is wrong and likely illegal in Maryland. Is he wrong for holding my legitimate use of leave against me by withholding from my salary increase for the year?

You are probably out of luck, but consult a Maryland labor/employment attorney to discuss the specifics.
Best of luck.
