Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
Is this fair treatment of employee or has my boss over stepped his grounds
While coming home from a business trip I was suspended/fired on my day off also on an air plane while we had a lay over in Tampa. Our office was coming home from a very gruling semenire. It was bascially a Meyers & Briggs personality/team seminar.
My boss approched me on the plane and wanted to discuss my personality defects. His questions included have you ever been sexually or physical abused. I told him it was none of his business and I would not answer such personal on a full plane. He then told me not to come to work on Monday and Tuseday
May1-2,2001 and I should come in on Wednesday to discuss my employment. I was humilited in front of my peer's as well as a plane full of strangers. At this point I told him to get away from me now, go back up front and sit with your wife. When he went back to the front of the plane he not only told the office manger I needed Pyhcological help but every one on the plane.

Re: Is this fair treatment of employee or has my boss over stepped his grounds
Your facts require further detail in order to determine whether your boss violated your legal rights in any compensable way. Understand that "unfairness" is not actionable on its own -- only when it is accompanied by a breach of some statue or other common law legal principle. You should contact an attorney to review your facts so that you can determine whether your rights have been violated. You should do so quickly because EEO complaints have very short statutes of limitations that must be complied with -- if you miss the deadlines you may lose your right to seek compensation.
