Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
I am trying to help a family member who is concerned that her husband's company may terminate him since it has now been determined that he has terminal cancer. The company has done nothing to lead her to believe that this may occur but she is concerned about the potential loss of life insurance that the family will depend upon. Can they legally terminate him while he is on short or long term disability, in light of the new diagnosis?
Thank you.

It depends. For instance, is the employee a member of a union? If so, the answer to your question is probably contained in the union contract with the company. How many people are in the company (are they subject to the ADA?). Without more facts, it's tough to give you a specific answer.
Best of luck.******The above does not establish an attorney-client relationship and is intended for informational purposes only.******
