Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

Federal and State mandated employee rights to break

Where to I find federal and State laws which clearly state the minimum amount of time that an employer must allow employees to break during a given work period?

Re: Federal and State mandated employee rights to break

Federal law (the FLSA) does not mandate any breaks. It is rare that state law does either. (I don't know off hand, but do not think MD has any such requirement.) You can find state law in each state's Code, which is usually available at most libraries in the particular state, as well as online. Md's code is called COMAR. The wage and hour section is at https://constmail.gov.state.md.us/comar/dsd_web/comar_web/idq_files/search.idq.

You can also call the state;s dept of labor and ask for technical assistance on a particular legal question.

Good luck.
