Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
Final Paychecks
I went to pick up my next to last paycheck. My employer informed me that this check and my next will be held pending any damage to cars caused by me or warranty repairs due on cars worked on by me. Is this legal? In what time fram should I receive my final pays? What recourse do I have?

Re: Final Paychecks
Under Maryland Law, generally an employer may not make a deduction from the wage of an employee unless the deduction is ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction or authorized expressly in writing by the employee. An employer should pay an employee all wages due for work that the employee performed on or before the day on which the employee would have been paid the wages if the employment had not been terminated.
