can i sue my employer for paying me wrongly. i was meant to be paid 38 hours but the only paid me 17 hours. do i have a law sue?

Hello. If you actually worked the 38 hours and there is no legitimate dispute about your entitlement to the pay, yes. Your question does not explain why the employer withheld the pay or how many of the hours you worked. You have two options in a wage case - you can notify the appropriate state officials and let them investigate or you can file a lawsuit yourself. Depending on the facts, you may be able to get triple damages.
