Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
My wife was fired from her job as a nurse when she was 8 months pregnant. She had been late several times and that was their reason they gave for termination. But she was never late by more than a few minutes. I have a feeling they did this to avoid paying her maternity leave. Can we recoup the lost maternity leave?

She will have to file a charge with the EEOC or Maryland Commission of Human Rights if she is a covered employee.
She doesn't have an extended period of time to file. Therefore, if she chooses to consult with an attorney beforehand, she should do so as soon as possible.
If she needs additional information, she can contact me at (410)635-4122.
