Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maryland
30 day notice to vacate
I live in a governmenrt funded, income restricted property. I had my boyfriend check on a issue i was having in my apartment. They asked him if he lived there and he stated no, he stay there sometimes and I'm (me) the only one on the lease. the property manager called me and said she is issuing me a 30 day notice to vacate because he said he lived with me and he is not on the lease which is against the lease agreement. I stated to them that he doesn't live with me and there is no proof or evidience that shows he or anyone else lives with me. I'm 8 months pregnant. What can I do? Is this legal?

If your lease says that only you can live in the apt and they have evidence that someone else was also living in the apt, then yes, they can probably do this. I STRONGLY recommend that you go to this website and look around:
http://www.oag.state.md.us/consumer/landlords.htm#laws
It will give you all kinds of useful information, including names of free legal services in Maryland, if you can't afford a lawyer. It is time you get a lawyer if you want to stay in the unit -- you can go to Court and try and prove that the alleged lease default (having someone else living in the unit) is not true and have an injunction filed against the landlord, preventing him from kicking you out.
Best of luck.*******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
