Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maryland

Landlord/Tentant

I owe a apartment copmlex and they filed a complaint to garnish my check to get their money on april 1st. They severed my job the payroll dept. with the results saying they been granted to garnish my check but i did not get a court letter saying come to court i just got this paper today at my job saying its been granted. Do they have the right to do that? Wasn't i suppose to appear at court to try to work out something?

Re: Landlord/Tentant

Yes, you should normally have the right to appear in the court which issued the garnishment not necessarily "to try to work out something", but rather to contest the basic legality of the garnishment(if there may be any grounds to do so).
