Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maryland

I lived in an apartment for almost 3 yrs. I was late for a month's rent payment and sent an email to the apartment office informing them that I would be late and requested to be given till the end of the month to make my payment.

However the office pasted an eviction notice on my door that I would be evicted "tomorrow" this was before the date I requested for. In fear that my things would be thrown out and my children left in the cold, I quickly went to rent a storage space and kept my things there and stooped living at the apartment.

I want to know if I can sue the office for forcing me out before my request for payment date. Also I was not given my security deposit of $1056.00

1. The office didn't force you out -- you left voluntarily! Instead of going to the storage facility, you should have gone to an attorney or to the Courthouse.

2. You must pay your rent on time. The fact that you sent a note to the management office doesn't mean that you get extra time to pay. By sending that letter, you basically told them in writing that you had no intention of paying that month's rent on time. When you don't pay your rent, you get evicted. It's tough, but that's how it is.

3. Since you failed to pay your rent, your security deposit of $1056.00 was applied to rent. You will not get this back.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
