Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maryland

i have been sub-letting for the last 15mo. i pay 1/2 of the rent and utilities. the lease is not in my name...the leasee has bought a house and has given her 30 day notice. i asked to stay, the owner said she was raising the rent 500.00 a month. this is a hufd house. i was to move with the leasee so i could save enough money and a security deposit. in less than 2 weeks for us toove, she decided that i could not go. i never received any 30 dday notice from her. i also have a lease with her in the office of the human resources dept of the state until april 2013. i am a senior with no place to move and no money. i also have 2 dogs. i don't know what oi can do. i need more time and resoueces to move. i do not want us to be put on the street. my son lives here too. he is an adult, but has no job. please help me, i also need her to not cut off the internet as this is the only way i have to find housing. i look every day. i will pay the extra charges when it is disconnected.

Thank you for your post. You may have claims to assert against your landlord for breaking the lease without adequate notice. Unfortunately an attorney cannot adequately analyze your rights in this situation without looking at your sublease and the lease of your landlord (the tenant).

You are encouraged to immediately seek advice/assistance.

Baltimore Neighborhoods Inc. (BNI) offers a free landlord/tenant hotline in Maryland with information on housing rights in this state, if you so choose you could call the free hotline at 1-800-487-6007 and/or ask an attorney to review your lease.

I hope the above general information helps but it is not legal advice. The specific facts of your situation may affect how the law applies to you and you may wish to consult with a lawyer.
