Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Maryland
Psychology counselor helps former patient's spouse with divorce
After a patient receives some counseling from a psychologist, and then that counseling ends; is it legally ''ok'' for the
same doctor to enter into counseling with the spouse of the
former patient (at a later time) for what becomes the planning and discussion
for divorce, to include a family disapperance from the family home ? Is it ''ok'' for the doctor to refuse help to the original patient, due, to taking the position of the
spouse in such a controversial situation ? Are there questions of confidentiality involved and are they important enough to question ethics violations and the doctor's responses legally ?

What you describe sounds potentially improper. You may hire a lawyer and/or contact you State's Licencing Body to Request an investigation of this potentially inapropriate conduct. I wish you the best. This is not legal Advice.
