Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Maryland

Requesting medical records - Sister/Mother

While waiting for liver transplant patient goes to ER and passes the next day. We would like to have medical records reviewed to determine if negligence/malpractice was involved.

Can sister or mother request medical records of patient of Shady Grove Hospital?

Only the personal representative of the decedent's estate has the legal right to obtain the decedent's medical records. If an estate has not yet been opened in the orphan's court, then this must be done first in order to obtain appointment of a personal representative.
