Legal Question in Military Law in Maryland

False Rape Allegations

I am currently being charged for rape. I am in the military and am about to undergo a court-martial. my attotrney feels there is not enough information to convict me; however i have been dealing with this for a year and a half. It has tore me apart mentally and physically and destroyed my family. My question is once it's over; is there anything i can do to nail her for these false accusations that I will have to live with forever?

Re: False Rape Allegations

First, listen to your attorney. Get through the case at hand before you start worrying about "nailing her for false accusations." The need to "get even" is understandable, but it is premature. Even though your attorney may not believe there is enough evidence for a conviction, a conviction is still possible, from what I hear you saying. Therefore, I would recommend putting every ounce of energy into beating the rape charges. After that is over, my advice is to follow the Chinese philosophy: before going for revenge, first dig two graves.

Beating the charge under the UCMJ is vindication of sorts. It may be all the vindication you get. But if you go off and try to even the score, you could find yourself facing additional charges.

Get past the rape charges.... Then forgive her and forget it. She doesn't deserve being forgiven, but you deserve the right to go on with your life, which you can't do until you get past this.

I know you probably are not ready to hear all this right now, but I honestly believe its the best advice anyone could give you right now.
