Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

Hello. I was in an accident in feruary 2010. My car was totaled and there were passengers. All were injured in the vehicle no deaths. I obtained a lawyer and he has not had contact with me about the status of my case. Back in august he told me a few weeks everything would be finalized. In october (after I hadn't talked to him for a month and a half) he said a few weeks. I talked to him in november and he said the same and was telling me of all of his responsibilties as those were the reasons he hasn't gotten back with me. I am tired of the run around and I am still suffering as a result of the accident so I am also feeling violated like he is playing games with me or something. I live in maryland. Thank you.

Call your attorney and tell him you want an in-person meeting. Express your concerns to him. If you don't feel like you are getting the answers/attention you deserve, you are free to fire your lawyer. Consult a new attorney to discuss your case. That new attorney can pick up where your old one should have left off.

If your attorney will not return your phone calls or schedule a meeting with you I can understand your frustation. The next option would be to send him or her a letter and I would be happy to help you compose one.

You may wish to check with the other party's insurance company as I recently was contacted by an individual in your same predicament whose attorney had never contacted the insurance company for the other driver in over 18 months!

Your attorney should be responsive to your inquiries as well as those from insurance companies and other counsel. You may consider hiring another attorney. There is an issue with what compensation, if any, your present counsel has earned. I am an experienced personal injury attorney and have taken cases where another attorney was not meeting the needs of the client or case. Call me at (410) 750-2567 if you'd like to discuss.
