if someone(A) is attempting to hot someone(B) and the bullet hits someone(C) what can the person(A) be charged with?

In terms of criminal law, A can be charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to kill, and of course various degrees of homicide if death resulted. In terms of civil law, A can be sued for battery, gross negligence or intentional tort. This is what is known as transferred intent.
