Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland
auto accident injury
I was the victim in an auto accident I was hit head on and suffered soft tissue as well as cervical damage. my medical costs are around $5000 to date and I am only being offered a settlement for $4000. That includes pain and suffering. I feel this is very low and in the law library in annapolis circuit court I am finding people getting awarded anywhere from $15,000 to $44,000. I am looking for the language to use when talking with the insurance company and what a fair settlement would be to ask for. Thank you

Re: auto accident injury
you will not recieve a fair settlement! insurance companies don't care about you. their only purpose is to minimize your claim. there are no magic words or language to use only hard work and proper preparation by a skilled trial lawyer
Re: auto accident injury
You are getting such a ridiculous offer precisely because you are not represented by an experienced personal injury lawyer who knows how to present your case properly to the insurance company. Your claim is probably worth several times what they are offering, and the fee you would have to pay the attorney as a percentage of the settlement would probably still net you more than what you are being offered at this time.
Re: auto accident injury
Your claim needs to be presented with skill and experience. A comprehensive guide does not exist.
It is impossible to prepare you with the knowledge needed to respond to the alternatives that an insurance company will take to reduce your settlement.
You should strongly consider obtaining legal representation. Do not settle and then decide to hire an attorney as you may compromise your claim.
I have settled numerous personal injury claims resulting from automobile collisions. Contact me to discuss your claim.
