Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

Fell in parking lot

I fell in a local retail parking lot. They had been watering plants and left the hose out. There was a piece of sidewalk missing. It was a very hot day and the water from the leaking faucet caused the lines in the parking lot to become very slippery. I have missed numerous days of work due to torn ligaments in my foot and ankle and physical therapy. The claims person said they are not responsible. The parking lot gets wet when it rains, so therefore they are not responsible. It was also a hot day so I wasn't expecting there to be water on the parking lines. Who is right? They keep saying Maryland is a something state. Im not quite sure of the exact terms but literally it makes them not being held accountable.

Re: Fell in parking lot

They are probably claiming that MD is a contributory negligence that barrs any claims if you contributed in any way to the injury. I disagree that what you stated is contrib. negl. They have a duty to make sure you are safe on their premises and warn you of dangers. You may have a case. Feel free to contact me with questions. [email protected]
