Fell from rental car because of seat belt wraped around foot

Arriving at Miami Airport, passgenger in front seat got out of Pontiac to say good bye two door car i went to get out of the car and had right foot on ground and left foot in car and seat belt from front seat tangled my left foot and i fell and broke my right hip - the seat belt from the front was connected to back panel under window - two door car -This was a rental car and people who rented car contacted their insurance company and they contacted the car rental place have health insurance but concerned about lost wages. i was hospitalized 12 days had surgery and how in physical therapy has been a rough road

I don't see that you have a tort claim, unless somehow the seat belt mechanism was defective and you can prove the rental company should have known about it. A very difficult situation. However, there may be first-party coverage on the vehicle or possibly through you renter's personal auto coverage that would cover you for lost wages. Check on these two sources. Good luck.
