Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

A friend of mine, a mildly experienced rider who had sold his own motorcycle several years ago, crashed my motorcycle into a stationary vehicle.

He had my permission to ride it (Ergh, no good deed goes unpunished.)

He claims that he will pay me back over time...the damage runs about $4000.00.

I believe he will, but if he does not, can I pursue legal action?

Certainly--you can sue him in small claims court. I suggest you get him to sign an acknowledgement that he was responsible for the damage and agrees to pay for the cost of repair (get an estimate or repair bill), setting forth the payment terms. Then if he breaks the agreement you'll have solid evidence if you have to take him to court.
