Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

Homeowner liability

I slipped on a homeowners driveway and hurt my back and broke my thumb. I was on their property performing a service for the utility company. Can I hold the homeowner liable?

Re: Homeowner liability

If you slipped on something that could be described as a dangerous condition, such as a hole in the driveway, or perhaps some ice left over from a storm that the homeowners knew or should have known about and had a reasonable opportunity to correct. The fact of your falling alone, without evidence of a dangerous condition, is insufficient by itself. You certainly can and should make a workers' compensation claim through your employer, and doing so would not preclude a liability claim against the homeowner.
