The additional defendant(s) would be added as would any other defendant, at least at the beginning of the suit. Reference to a party after suit has commenced depends on the facts of your case (counter-claim, cross-claim, etc.) You should speak with an attorney as you may be in the process of waiving certain rights. Depending on where you are in the lawsuit, you may or may not have to file a motion to get court permission to do this. Suggest you flesh out your question with some more information if you want a helpful answer.
