Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

liability

My name is on the title of my daughter's car. I co-signed the loan. She is 20 years old and has her own separate insurance policy on the car in her name. Am I liable in any way if the car is in an accident?

Re: liability

If the accident occurs in an "owner's liability" jurisdiction like DC, you could be held liable. The solution is to have her add you as an additional insured on her policy. That way, if she does cause an accident and you get sued, her insurance company will protect you up to the coverage limit. If she doesn't maintain very high limits (under $100000), you should consider adding her vehicle under your policy and keeping your limits high enough to protect you. It doesn't take much to expose you to significant claims in this day and age.
