Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

My mother-in-law was driving on the way to deliver papers at 3:30AM. A tree had fallen across the road and she slammed into it head on. She is having surgery today to repair a broken femur on her right leg. The car is totalled and she will be unable to work for a while if at all. The question is, does the owner of the tree have any legal responsibility for the damages or for pain and suffering?

The answer depends on what the owner of the tree knew. If it had been falling for some time, then they could be liable.

You should contact an attorney to discuss this matter.

There are other avenues of recovery that my be more probable than the owner of the tree.

Your mother-in-law should contact an attorney when she is able.
