Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

Police abuse and negligence.

Please help me in finding the best way to file a personal injury form , regarding police brutality/voilating my 4th, 1st and 9th Amendments under our constitution. I am under a very limited time period, and must take action within the next two weeks. I am a single woman who traveled to O. C., MD in February of 2001,with the objective to find employment. Once, in O.C. I encounterd car problems, from that point,it was hard to recieve any help. I began being harrassed by a male police officer, with hours of questioning I was extremely tired, then my requests for the officer to leave my hotel room was ignored. Instead, without being told of any charges, was thrown on the ground searched, handcuffed, then forced into the police car where he took me to a Phychaitric facility.I was refused a lawyer for approximately 3-5 days. I went last week to the district court to file personal injury claims against this one officer. My claim form is good for up to a $25,000 injury claim. Am I using the proper form? I am determined to stand up for myself in court, even if that means having to represent myself and possibly losing. I hope that you can give me any kind of helpful advice.

Re: Police abuse and negligence.

By all appearance you have a claim. Presenting your matter for court is something that you should seek legal assistance. There are more matters than meet the eye and the police department will have trained counsel. The unfortunate issue is that you have sat on this matter up to the statute of limitations. Constitutional violation of your civil liberties may be involved and this presents a challenge for an attorney to pull together the relevant factual matter and prepare a pleading that protects all aspects of your complaint. Please contact me immediately should you desire to move forward. (410) 799-9002.
