Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland
Pregnancy and an Accident
My husband, inlaws, son and I were in an accident which we were re-ended. I have since found out at the time of the accident I was pregnant. It has been a horrible 8 months with complications. I tried to settled with his insurance company but, they said my figure was to high. I have been to all my doctor appointment and most of the damage is the nightmare that there is damage to the baby and they can not tell. It has been such a horrible pregnancy that we have decided not to get pregnant again. We know filed a claim with our own insurance company. We really do not know what to do. The figure I gave them was 10,000 for me and 10,000. for my unborn child. I wonder on a daily basis if there was damage we even consider terminating the pregnancy in the beginning. Please Help

Re: Pregnancy and an Accident
From your question, it sounds like you have been trying to handle this without legal representation. That was not a good idea. Insurance companies aren't out to do you any favors or make you feel better. The insurance company's only objective is to pay you as little as possible to get rid of this claim, and they love to take advantage of people trying to resolve their own claims who obviously are unfamiliar with the process.
The insurance company values claims based on documented medical evidence of injury. The possibility of injury is not persuasive to them. However, if your claim is presented properly, its real value can be obtained.
I would be happy to discuss this further with you, as well as any of the others if they were injured, if you would like to telephone me.
