Re: Prendnisone Class Action

Over prescribing of medication is a matter that would not be a subject of a class action as this is more properly an action of medical malpractice. Medical malpractice in Maryland is difficult as the local practice standard is applied to determine liability. Essentially, this means that an expert in the local medical community would need to testify in your behalf that your treating physician did not adhere to the local treatment standard. Keeping this in mind, with prescribing medication, the local community would likely not be narrowly defined, thus you would not be as limited as would be the case with usual medical malpractice claims. Also note that many cases of medical malpractice settle outside of court and thus this standard would apply only as it would relate to establishing a cause of action and valid claim upon which a settlement could be negotiated.

As to your question of the existence of a class action, I am not aware of a specific class action for prendnisone. I believe that this medication has been prescibed for a period of time and has been found to be safe and effective. This is not to say that a class action with this medication does not exist.

You should contact an attorney to discuss your case and for possible representation with a medical malpractice action. You should also continue to search for a class action if such should exist and an attorney could assist you with this as well.
