Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland
settlement for automobile accident
My 14-year old and three of his companions were involved in a car accident in Nov. 2008. GEICO Insurance company has stated that the settlement for all parties cannot be determined until medical records and information from all parties is received. Is this standard procedure for insurance companies?

Settlements are based upon damages and medical records are needed for an assessment. Any number of methods can be used by an insurance company to reduce the settlement. You should obtain representation to ensure that your rights are protected. Contact me to discuss.

Normally each party will settle individually. Those with an attorney will probably settle earlier because the attorney knows there is a cap on the total settlement and he will do what he can to get the most for his client.
